🚗 A New Chapter in Style and Comfort: The Magotan B9 🌟

The Magotan has long been a symbol of the Chinese automotive market, favored for both business and family use. Since its introduction to China in 2007, it has won the trust of 2.5 million car owners. Now, the all-new Magotan (B9) has been officially launched. Let's see how it performs!

💰 Three Models Launched, Priced from 179,900 to 246,900 Yuan 💸

We experienced the 380 TSI Supreme Edition, the top-of-the-line model. The matte Tianxuan Black paint is a delightful surprise, indicating that this generation is arguably the most revolutionary in the history of the Magotan.

🔄 Exterior: Longer Size, Upgraded Youthful Appeal 🛡️

The changes in the new Magotan (B9) are truly revolutionary. It does not follow the overseas Passat (B9) design, but features a new front face that is more three-dimensional and visually striking.

Upon closer inspection, the lines of the new Magotan are actually very simple, but compared to the steady and refined style of the B8, it uses sharper creases and a more sporty enclosure, along with a new family-style through-type light strip and a light-up LOGO, creating a more youthful visual effect.

The most significant change on the side is the addition of a new C-pillar triangular window, with the visual center of the side lines further extended to the rear, making the rear more slender. The upper waist line that was once as sharp as a knife has been weakened, but the lower waist line has been more sharply raised, thereby enhancing the presentation of the sports feeling.

The body length of the new Magotan has increased by 124mm, while the wheelbase remains unchanged, with the length, width, and height being 4990/1854/1487mm, and the wheelbase is 2871mm, making it larger overall. The rear has changed to a more three-dimensional direction, with the through-type taillight + light-up LOGO echoing the front face, and the through-type reflector strip below can widen the visual effect.

However, although the body size has increased, the volume of the trunk has decreased, from 533L of the previous generation to 508L (the actual shooting car supports the electric adjustment of the rear seat, and the low and medium configuration is 520L), but its interior space is still very neat, and it also provides an electric trunk.

🖲 Interior: Three Large Screens, Four-Seat Massage 💺

The business-style interior design of the Magotan (B8) is not in time to miss, on the Magotan (B9), Volkswagen chooses to "go all the way", the three large screens of the new interior design are even more radical than the ID series, with a gorgeous 30-color atmosphere lamp, the technology aesthetics is full.

Such a change not only keeps the design of the interior and exterior unified but also keeps the Magotan up with the needs of the new era. The 15-inch central control screen + co-driver entertainment screen + 8155 chip is exclusive to the top configuration, and other configurations provide a 12.9-inch central control screen, which is not small at all.

The steering wheel is still the family-style of Volkswagen, equipped with touch buttons and supports heating, and does not provide shift paddles. To be honest, this steering wheel is not very popular because of the button feel and easy to mistrigger, especially the overseas version of the Passat (B9) still uses the version of the physical button, if the domestic can "regress" it would be great.

Behind the steering wheel is a brand new rotary gearshift mechanism. Yes, that's right, this is not the traditional sense of the waist block, which cannot be operated without the right hand leaving the steering wheel, but it needs to be twisted and rotated, and the gear layout is consistent with the ID family.

In addition, the HUD head-up display is not missing, but the projection size is not large by today's standards. The 10.25-inch all-liquid crystal dashboard adopts a non-sunshade design, and the clarity is not greatly improved. The interface design and layout have been changed to the latest style, and the menu operation logic will become more complex.

It is worth mentioning that the map interface now supports AR real scene navigation functions, but the picture quality is not high. The IQ.Connectivity car machine system, whether it is UI or dynamic design, is very good, and the improvement brought by the 8155 chip is obvious.

The 11.6-inch co-driver entertainment screen has good clarity, but the current functions and Apps are not very rich. It can directly use the car machine's 5G wireless network, and can also connect to the mobile phone hotspot. However, due to the screen ratio, the actual display area when playing videos is not large.

The central passage area is now almost completely filled with storage space, only retaining the one-key start and electronic handbrake, equipped with a single wireless charging panel and a folding cup holder, the storage capacity has been greatly improved.

🚘 Dynamics: Still the Volkswagen Style 🏎️

In the power section, the 300TSI version is equipped with Volkswagen's brand new 1.5T engine, codenamed EA211 EVO II; the 380TSI is still the familiar old friend - the 2.0T engine with the codename EA888-DTJ, the maximum power and torque still remain at 220Ps, 350N·m, matched with a DSG 7-speed wet dual-clutch gearbox.

It is worth mentioning that the new Magotan (B9) has not yet released the 330TSI version, and this power system is only equipped on the 2024 Magotan (B8) 2 million share luxury type 330TSI DSG luxury type sold in the same hall.

The changes in the driving level of the new Magotan are actually minimal, still the familiar Volkswagen formula, Volkswagen taste. Start the ignition, it is easy and delicate to start, with a good pointing and most of the road feedback is wiped out, there is no fun but there is enough confidence.

The DTJ engine still belongs to the third generation of EA888, which has increased the particle collector and the fuel injection pressure to 350bar. This power has been equipped on the Magotan (B8), so there is almost no obvious change on the new Magotan, with abundant power reserves and excellent power response, and you can easily break through the front wheel grip when starting hard, and the middle acceleration ability and high-speed extension are more than enough.

The performance of the DSG gearbox is even more familiar, which not only has the efficient power transmission of the dual-clutch gearbox but also has the smoothness that is not inferior to the high-end AT gearbox, and the shift speed is very satisfactory. Even without manual mode, it can quickly understand the driver's intention during acceleration and actively complete the downshift operation, and the low and medium speed jerk is hardly noticeable.

It is still a combination of front McPherson type / rear multi-link independent suspension, which can be criticized for the Volkswagen's current suspension material in this market, but it cannot be questioned that its chassis tuning is still top-notch, solid and heavy feedback, can be too much to drop most of the bumps, and retain a certain road feedback.
