Land Rover Defender 110 OCTA to Debut with BMW's V8 Engine
Jun 28, 2024
Recently, Land Rover has released a teaser image of the Defender 110 OCTA model, which will be equipped with BMW's S63 V8 engine. The actual car will make its global debut on July 3rd and will be showcased at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK on July 11th.
From the teaser image, it is evident that the OCTA version has been further upgraded based on the current Defender 110, including higher aspect ratio all-terrain tires, Brembo brake calipers, and a high-performance air suspension system that can actively adjust the vehicle's posture in off-road environments.
The key focus is on the powertrain. The Defender 110 OCTA will no longer use Land Rover's own 5.0T V8 supercharged engine but will instead use the latest S63 4.4T V8 twin-turbocharged engine from BMW M Power, which is more technologically advanced and powerful.
This V8 engine has already been applied to the Range Rover SV, and its appearance on the Defender is a natural progression. For reference, the Range Rover SV has a maximum power of 452kW and a maximum torque of 750Nm, with the vehicle capable of reaching 100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds and a top speed of 261 km/h. Given the lower weight of the Defender 110, the OCTA version will be even more powerful. According to official information, this car will be the fastest Land Rover Defender ever.
