New BYD Song Pro DM-i Upgrades to DM5.0 Hybrid System

Recently, media outlets have revealed spy shots of the new BYD Song Pro undergoing road tests. As a revised model, the vehicle may continue to use the current chassis but is expected to upgrade its powertrain to the DM5.0 plug-in hybrid system, the same as the Qin L DM-i, and is scheduled to be officially launched in the second half of this year. For reference, the current Song Pro DM-i Glory Edition starts at a guide price of 109,800 yuan.

From the exposed spy shots, the test vehicle is still in a strict camouflage test phase, and the exterior details are not yet visible. However, the overall front contour and side lines of the vehicle do not appear to have changed significantly, and the rear continues the classic through-type taillights. As a revised model, it is speculated that there will be minor adjustments to the front and rear bumpers and the grille.

Regarding the configuration, the new version may use the same three-spoke steering wheel and crystal electronic gear lever as the Qin L DM-i. The leather wrapping and panel decoration in the cabin are expected to be adjusted, and the car machine system is likely to continue to be BYD's DiLink intelligent interaction. The focus is on the power, the new Song Pro DM-i may use the same DM5.0 plug-in hybrid system as the Qin L DM-i, including a hybrid-specific 1.5L engine with a thermal efficiency of 45.06% and an EHS dual-motor unit with a maximum power of 160kW, which will bring better fuel economy than the current model.
