National Fixed Asset Investment Growth in the First Half of 2024

From January to June 2024, the total national fixed asset investment (excluding rural households) was 2,453.91 billion yuan, with a year-on-year growth of 3.9% (calculated based on comparable standards, see footnote 7 for details). Among this, the private fixed asset investment was 1,272.78 billion yuan, with a year-on-year growth of 0.1%. On a month-to-month basis, the fixed asset investment (excluding rural households) in June grew by 0.21%.

Industry Breakdown

The primary industry investment was 45.4 billion yuan, with a year-on-year growth of 3.1%. The secondary industry investment was 822.97 billion yuan, growing by 12.6%. The tertiary industry investment was 1,585.54 billion yuan, slightly declining by 0.2%.

Within the secondary industry, the industrial investment saw a year-on-year growth of 12.6%. Specifically, the investment in the mining industry grew by 17.0%, manufacturing investment by 9.5%, and the investment in the production and supply of electricity, thermal energy, gas, and water grew by 24.2%.

In the tertiary industry, the infrastructure investment (excluding the production and supply of electricity, thermal energy, gas, and water) grew by 5.4% year-on-year. Notably, the investment in water management grew by 27.4%, air transport by 23.7%, and railway transport by 18.5%.

Regional Analysis

Investment in the eastern region grew by 3.8% year-on-year, the central region by 4.0%, the western region by 1.0%, and the northeastern region by 3.4%.

Investment by Registration Type

Investment by domestic enterprises grew by 3.8% year-on-year, while investment by enterprises from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan grew by 5.1%. Investment by foreign enterprises decreased by 15.8%.
